Girls Football Week Returns

Girls Football Week returns in 2018

via Sussex County FA

Girls’ Football Weeks is a fun filled week of activities designed to get as many girls involved in playing football.

Whether girls play regularly or are lacing their boots for the first time, it is a great opportunity for everyone to get active, meet new friends and have fun!

This year, the national campaign is supported by Disney and is aimed at raising the profile of female football and supporting The FA’s aim to double the number of women and girls playing the sport by 2020. Disney will play their part in supporting The FA by creating a range of resources that will use Disney storytelling football- related activities.

In 2017 over 60,000 girls took part in over 1,400 sessions delivered in schools, colleges, universities, clubs, community groups and other organisations across the country.

Sussex County FA are encouraging organisations to register their activities and events during the seven-day campaign.

Organisations can register their on-going activities as part of the week, or maybe even start something brand new to kick-start girls’ football.

The week is a great opportunity to showcase female football at every level and inspire new players and volunteers.

Many of the activities delivered during the week are based on The FA’s online guides, which provide advice on ensuring all activities are fun and safe for everyone involved, maximizing enjoyment and minimising risk.

Once registered, you will receive digital promotional materials and a guide on how to deliver safe and fun activities. You will also be sent a range of session plan ideas at the beginning of April.

If you a girl footballer and interested in taking part in Girls' Football Week, more information is to follow.
